Placement makes a real difference in how well an air purifier works. Here’s where to put it in each room — and the mistakes to avoid.
General rules
- Keep it off the wall and out of corners — it needs airflow on all sides.
- Place it near the pollution source (litter box, kitchen doorway, pet bed).
- Higher placement can help capture airborne particles, but floor level is fine for most units.
Bedroom
A few feet from the bed, not blasting directly at your face. Run it on a quiet/night mode so noise doesn’t wreck your sleep.
Nursery
A few feet from the crib, never pointed directly at the baby. Quiet operation matters most here. (More in my LG PuriCare review.)
Living room
Central, with clear space around it, ideally near the doorway where outside air and pet traffic enter. Size the unit to the room’s square footage (CADR explained).
Mistakes to avoid
- Tucking it behind furniture (kills airflow).
- Buying a unit too small for the room.
- Forgetting to replace the filter.
FAQ
Should an air purifier run all day? Yes — on auto mode it ramps up only when needed, so it’s efficient.
